Accessibility Widget
Developed by Janice Ward
D2L Widgets are created by system administrators and can be placed on the "My Home" page, a page that is first seen by all faculty and staff after logging into D2L. Widgets can also be placed on the course home page (first seen after selecting the desired course) and can be controlled by individual faculty or placed globally by the system administrator.
Widgets can contain basic HTML code and in the case of the sample accessibility widget link to relevant sites and information. Widgets are NOT specific (at this time) to instructors or students, so both parties should be addressed in the widget.
Widgets are created and managed through the “MANAGE HOMEPAGES” function of the system administrator. Individual faculty may or may not have rights to create widgets using the “HOMEPAGES” are under "EDIT COURSE". These rights are controlled by the system administrator. For consistency across the university, it would seem likely that a widget related to accessibility be created by the system administrator and applied globally at either the "MY HOME" level or the "COURSE HOME" level.
Below is a very rough draft of a sample accessibility widget.
The widget contains the following information:
