John D. Krumboltz, Ph.D., is a Professor of Education and
Psychology at Stanford University, and a Fellow of the American Psychological
Association and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He
specializes in counseling psychology and helps school counselors learn how to
improve the process of career decision making. Krumbolz is a national leader in
the theory of career counseling and is the author of Luck Is No Accident:
Making the Most of Happenstance in Your Life and Career.
Krumboltz was a high school counselor and algebra teacher, a
research psychologist for the U.S. Air Force, and an educator at Michigan State
University. As a visiting colleague, he served at the
Educational Testing Service, the Center for Advanced Studies in the Behavioral Sciences, the National
Center for Research in Vocational Education, the Institute of Psychiatry at the
University of London, and the National Institute for Careers Education and
Counseling in Cambridge, England.
Krumboltz was designated as Living Legend in Counseling by
the American Counseling Association, and is the recipient of numerous awards
from organizations including the American
Personnel and Guidance Association, the American
Psychological Association, and the
University of Minnesota. He holds a
Ph.D. in educational psychology and counseling from the University of Minnesota.
