Conference Overview

What is the Careers Conference 2009?
The 23rd annual Careers Conference, sponsored by the
Center
on Education and Work at
University of Wisconsin-Madison,
is designed to serve everyone and anyone who is involved with career development
and education for work. This national conference presents learning opportunities
at all levels, from a
basic introduction for those starting
out... to the very latest practices, strategies, and resources for those who are
advanced in the field.
What are the Conference Goals?
The Careers Conference is designed to:
- Highlight the lifelong career development needs of students and adults
- Address the needs of young people exploring career options in School-to-Career,
Tech Prep, apprenticeship, and work-based education programs
- Connect education with business and industry to enable School-to-Career transition
- Focus on adults of all ages seeking education, training, job relocation, or development
of new job skills to advance in their careers
- Place special emphasis on using technology in career development and counseling
What Makes Careers Conference Unique?
Unlike many conferences, the Careers Conference provides practical
information you can put to use. This is truly a conference for practitioners...
the individuals who work directly or indirectly to provide career development services
to youth and adults of all ages and abilities.
When asked what they most appreciated about the Careers Conference, past participants
most often tell us that it is the diversity of the conference
sessions and topics that sets the conference apart from similar events.
