Each year, several Concurrent Sessions are selected as Showcase Programs at the Careers Conference. These sessions are recognized as highlighting outstanding practices or programs, having demonstrated measurable success with designated populations, and using a developmental guidance framework. With over 20 years of success "Your Place" shares programming that helps students successfully transition into the world of higher education and/or gainful employment through awareness and self-confidence

C66 Business and Education Partnership--Pulling Together for Our Future... (Showcase Program) [All]



Greater Green Bay Area Partners in Education (PIE) is business and education working together since 1992 to help all learners prepare for productive community life and to strengthen the economic vitality of the community. PIE views the entire community as a learning laboratory, developing a system of programs that include promotion of education, school-based learning, work-based learning, career exploration, and community support.

C95 Model of a Community-Based Student Leadership Academy Program for High School Students (Showcase Program) [H, P]



This session provides an overview of an existing community-based Student Leadership Academy Program. The presenters will explain ways to implement a similar program through a step-by-step model and provide resources and discuss benefits from the program. This academy links local high school students with the area business community, with the goal of preparing students for careers and lifelong learning.

C122 Capitalizing on Career-Focused Volunteerism (Showcase Program) [M, H, P]



How and where do you begin to create a collaborative business and education partnership? Thirteen years ago, the Wake County Public School System in North Carolina asked this question. This session will discuss the elements of design, recruitment, and sustainability of this partnership working to achieve career development and exploration goals for students through the donation of career expertise and life experience. Initiative materials will be shared with attendees.

C145 Collaborating to Develop Young Leaders (Showcase Program) [All]



Youth Leadership is an educational program designed to nurture and enhance the skills of students from the community who wish to become involved in impacting the future. Youth Leadership is a program of the Superior/Douglas County Chamber of Commerce and is endorsed by Superior School District. Youth Leadership offers rare opportunities to interact with community leaders and explore issues, concerns, and activities of the community.
