US Charter Schools

The most comprehensive online resource for charter school information. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education, this Web site provides state and school profiles, information and resources, and a large interactive area with several discussion and announcement groups.

National Charter School Clearinghouse

An interactive Web site featuring a monthly newsletter, national and/or regional conference information, a compilation of charter school funding resources, research, a database of grant writers, online discussion groups, and other information on education reform. The Web site is one of the 26 Field Initiated Research Projects funded by a grant from the US Department of Education.

National Charter Alliance

National Charter Alliance (formerly Charter Friends National Network) promotes quality charter schools by strengthening its member organizations and by acting as an effective and credible voice for charter schools nationally. The charter school support organization also continues the work of the Charter Friends National Network by connecting resource centers and other state-level charter support organizations and activities. This Web site includes publications, policy updates, technical assistance and other resources, a calendar, and a directory of state contacts.

Center for Education Reform

The Center for Education Reform advocates for school choice, supports local charter school campaigns, provides technical assistance, and conducts research. The organization's Web site provides charter school statistics, a national calendar, school choice resources, contacts by state, legislative information, and publications.

National Charter Schools Institute

This organization offers comprehensive technical assistance, services, and training to charter school boards, administrators, developers, and others througout the country. The Web site provides access to a library of learning resources, training information, models for success, and program information.

Charter Schools Development Center

The Center, part of the California State University's Institute for Education Reform, offers technical assistance for the charter school reform movement. This site includes a schedule of workshops, tool kits, publications, sample documents, resources for both charter-granting agencies and schools, school data, grant information, and research.

Center for School Change at the Humphrey Institute

Select Charters from the home page to learn more about this organization's support for developers of urban public charter schools. The Web site provides information on charter school community projects, research, and publications.

National Association of Charter School Authorizers

This nonprofit organization provides enlightened oversight to charter authority members. The group's Web site offers a resource library, news and publications, and information products and services. Access to some information is limited to members.

Northwest Regional Education Laboratory

Currently, NWREL is working on the development of charter school leadership training, collection and dissemination of charter school training materials, and state and school level evaluation services. The Web site includes publications, evaluation services, links as well as definitions and general information about charter schools.

Charter Schools Development Corporation

This nonprofit assists public charter schools with the acquisition and financing of educational facilities and related capital improvement to make capital and credit more available. The Web site includes a bulletin, useful links, and highlighted practices of the organization.

Educational Excellence Network

Research conducted by the Thomas B. Fordham Foundation is provided through this site. Select Charter Schools from the home page to access the group's publications. Related links are also available. 

Evaluation Center at Western Michigan University

Research publications on charter schools produced by the Evaluation Center are available through this Web site.
