Technical Advisory Panel

An eight-member Technical Advisory Panel (TAP) provided assistance and guidance to the research staff throughout the design, development, implementation, and dissemination phases of the research. The TAP met quarterly the first year and semi-annually in years two, three, and four. All TAP meetings were conducted via videoconference or telephone conference.

The eight-member TAP was composed of two parents of high school students with disabilities, three consumer representatives, and four individuals who have considerable experience at the national level in high school accountability and performance improvement systems, assessment and/or school reform. The two parents of students with disabilities were identified in consultation with the Director of Special Education for the Madison Metropolitan and the Milwaukee School Districts. Particular care was taken to select parent members with background experiences and perspectives that would add balance and depth of perspective to the TAP deliberations.

The three consumer representatives were: two University of Wisconsin-Madison students with a disability selected by the Principal Investigator in consultation with the Director of the UW-Madison's McBurney Resource Center for students with disabilities;. Dr. Jeffery Flesher, Director of Learning at National Laboratories served as a representative of provate employer consumers on the TAP.
