Style Guide

When preparing your manuscript, please follow the publication guidelines found in the 5th edition of the APA Publication Manual. To order a copy on line, go to http://www.apastyle.org/

Type and Length

Seven types of manuscripts are accepted for publication in the Journal: research reports, literature reviews, topical papers, descriptions of model programs or practices, reaction papers, brief reports, and department column articles. All manuscripts will be judged according to the following criteria:

Manuscript Disposition

All manuscripts submitted will be acknowledged promptly. Manuscripts are subject to a double-blind refereed review process. Typically, three individuals plus the editors review each manuscript. Copies of reviewers' comments and the final decision are forwarded to the primary author in approximately three months. Upon formal acceptance, authors must submit a final version of their manuscript in electronic format, either 3.5" floppy disk or as an E-mail attachment. Authors are strongly encouraged to use a Windows-based word processing program, or an unformatted text file. After formal acceptance, manuscripts accepted are usually published within one year. Published authors will receive two complementary copies of the Journal issue in which their article appears.

JVSNE Information

Frequency and Subscription Rates

The Journal is published three times per year: October, January, and May.

Audience

Authors and readership include both secondary and post-secondary vocational educators, academic educators, and special educators concerned with the vocational education of students with special needs; state departments of vocational education and special education staff; and other state- and local-level professionals and advocates concerned with career/vocational issues that relate to learners with special needs. Practitioners are encouraged to submit manuscripts, including outlines of possible articles, for review. Writing assistance can be provided if necessary to develop promising manuscripts into publishable form.
